It's hard to believe that I started this blog just 3 months ago and it has already grown so much. It really is a labor of love for me. I have truly enjoyed writing each and every post. I love photographing and documenting our lives and getting to share it all with you. Having all of you here listening makes it all worth it and to be honest it would be no fun without you. To show my appreciation I thought I would giveaway a copy of one of my favorite cookbooks, The Silver Spoon.

It has long been said to be the Italians Joy of Cooking. It was translated to English a few years ago. My husband and I love it because, like all the food in Italy, it's recipes are simple and delicious. I love the idea that less is more.

saturday's farmer's market

Little M and I ventured out to the market very early this morning............before sunrise even. I absolutely L*O*V*E the fall. There was a nice nip in the air. I was snuggled up in my new hand knit sweater my hubby bought for me and little M cozied up in a fleece and blankie. 

I bought some beautiful baby squash that I'm planning to serve browned with mashed potatoes and chicken. I also got the last of the blackberries for the season and I'll bake up a beautiful pie of course. Happy Saturday everyone.

apple pie with pecan streusel topping

Obviously I've been on a crazy pie baking extravaganza lately. I think it's because I'm pregnant. My female hormones are in overdrive. MUST MAKE BEAUTIFUL PIES! 

One of my husband's favorites is apple and I figured it was appropriate since last week was the fall equinox. I wanted to spice it up a little so I made a pecan streusel topping instead of a regular crust. It was divine! My husband said it's like having a delectable cookie right on top. 

I used this recipe for the pie filling, this recipe for the crust (I swear by this. It ALWAYS comes out perfect), and this recipe for the streusel topping  (I added 1/2 a cup of chopped pecans to the streusel recipe.)

25 weeks

Yes, yes.......I'm huge.......I know........This is how I was with Milton too. The docs kept thinking I had a gigantic baby in there but he popped out a nice 7 lbs. 8 ozs. I have my wonderful genetics to thank for this monster of a belly. I hope my little Ginger is warm and cozy in this GIANT house I've made for her.

little M's pears

Here are the pears my lovely husband made for little M this week. They are one of his favorites. If your looking for ways to save money, this is a fabulous way to do it. Plus you get to hand pick and prepare what goes in your baby's mouth. I think it's wonderful if you can swing it.

fall is in the air............first edition

I have recently been feeling very grateful to be living in Santa Fe. Everything is so beautiful here in it's own little majestic way. The changing leaves of the aspens are no exception. Our little family took a trip up to see them yesterday but I must say that I was a little bit disappointed because many of them were still green and they hadn't quiet gotten to the gorgeous orangey auburn that I love so much. So, the good news is that I plan to go back next weekend for a second edition photo shoot. I'm not posting to too many photos today but I promise more next week.

I was already having a splendid day when I ran out to the mail box to find a scrumptious handmade bib from Carmen over at Chloe's Closet Boutique. She sent me an A*D*O*R*A*B*L*E "urban owls" bib which I love. The bib is a very generous size which is great because if any of you have babies, you know they eat like little Tasmanian devils. The front of the bib is covered with a very soft owl print fabric that's 100% cotton, which is a must for my babies, and the back is a lovely chenille. It's soft and furry but also absorbent which is great too. It features great attention to detail including a pearl button which I love. The little tag attached reads "Eat In Style" and little Milton will definitely be eating in style in this bib.

I always like to show one photo of the packaging. It's always a pleasant surprise when you receive something in the mail and it comes all wrapped up in a lovely package like this one.
