Meet The GORGEOUS Haley of Purusha People

I recently came across Haley and her gorgeous shop {purusha people}
I fell in love immediately and haven't stopped shopping yet. I'm going on my fourth garment now and I L*O*V*E. love. love.  every single piece.

I am a busy mom of 2 babies and honestly when I am home cooking and taking care of the kids I wear a lot of active wear; most of it is very boring and not very stylish so when I found Haley's {shop}I was thrilled.

The colors are gorgeous and radiant, all hand dyed and the silk screening is perfectly done with lovely inspirational quotes. I just can't get enough. So I invited Haley to have a little interview with us here today so you all could meet her and I could share her stylish, comfy, handmade garments with you!!

Take a peek at some of this gorgeous stuff.

Isn't she gorgeous?

1. Why did you decide to start Purusha People and how long have you been open?

i decided to start purusha people because of my desire to create, and to share my creations with people in a way that is broad yet still very unique and individual. i've always known i wanted to run my own business, i just didn't know what i wanted that business to be! i've had a love affair with yoga off and on for the past 10 years, but only in the past 2 years have we really been 'in love'. hehe.

i didn't really love most yoga clothes i owned- either the looks i had were too boring and black, or too tie dyed and funky... so i wanted to create something in between- clothing that is timeless and age appropriate, yet still fashionable and youthful. i started purusha officially almost 3 years ago, when i opened my etsy shop in march 2009.

i taught myself how to screen print and dye clothing by hand. it helps that my mom is a painter (http://www.catherinemelliott.com/) and had given me lessons on color combining and mixing. after about 1 1/2 years on etsy i was able to quit my waitressing job (best day of my life!) and devote myself to purusha people full time. purusha has been evolving, growing, and becoming better ever since and i am beyond excited to see where it takes me!

2. Give us 5 words that best describe you.
quirky, silly, OCD, kind, curious.

3. What is your favorite food?
dark chocolate, homemade pizza, smoothies. (not together lol!)

4. Where so you see yourself 2 years from now?
2 years from now i would love to be living in southern california with my mate patrick and my dog liam. i hope to live near my sister that's already out there, and have my parents move too! i'd like to have around 2-4 people working with me, helping with the sewing, dyeing, printing, and designing. i'd love for all purusha clothing to be made from organic cotton, hemp, and recycled fibers. i hope to be able to do a crow pose into a hand stand at this time too! i'd like to be living in a fantastic energy efficient solar powered house with land to grow fruits and veggies and have chickens! and mostly i just want to be healthy, happy, and still loving what i do!

5. What inspires you to make such beautiful garments?
the world and it's various cultures, nature, philosophy, evolution, and benevolence inspire me to create clothing. i truly hope to run a big business some day that is actually GOOD to the planet and its people. i am inspired by altruism and compassion for people that just haven't been as lucky as i have.

6. If you could accomplish one dream today what would it be?
if i could accomplish one dream today it would be to be satisfied with where i am, not wishing for something more, not regretting that today wasn't perfect. i'd like to feel content and at peace in my mind with everything as it is today, because i am so fortunate to be here surrounded by support, sweetness, and love.

Thank you Haley for your lovely interview and giving us the chance to get to know you a little better. You are an inspiration!!! Here I am  in one of my most recently purchased {purusha people} garments.

Inspiration for Today

My beautiful friends. I find myself in turbulent situation. Many aspects of my life are out of balance at the moment. Tonight I will go in for my 12 hour overtime shift to make ends meet after my husband lpost his job a few days ago. I AM SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE A DEPENDABLE CAREER and that I am able to work overtime if needed.
Thank you God!
My doors are wide open right now. I am open to anything to come my way and I truly believe something will. My husband and I are no strangers to hardship. Something beautiful will come from all this and I am open, receptive, and ready to receive it.
Let it come!
My father has taken a turn for the worse. As a family we have decided to withdrawal support and let him go to wherever God takes him. He will pass within a matter of hours or days.
We loved him dearly as did many others but it is his time and that's okay.

I absolutely love this prayer by Mother Theresa. It brings me to tears every time I read it and I needed it today. Thanks for listening. I hope this prayer speaks to you as well.

Blessing to all of you and your families. Life is so precious and fragile.
I am so grateful for it!
“People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are honest, people may cheat you. Be honest anyway.

If you find happiness, people may be jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.”

Electric Blue, Papaya and a Few Facts About Me

I originally saw this adorable post on Casey Weigand's blog, then on Lindsay's blog, and finally on my new friend Christy's blog.  I Just loved it and decided to share it on my blog too. Thanks for the inspiration ladies!!!

Unfortunately this has been a little bit of a tough week so that may reflect in my answers. I feel like when it rains, it pours. I'm keeping my chin up and pressing forward because I must for my family. I think a lot of bloggers put on a certain persona that they want to portrait and I totally understand that but sometimes it's best to just be down right honest!!! I think the truth is much more interesteing than the fantasy.

However, on a lighter note, I am already up to running 3 miles with my training and I L*O*V*E this outfit!!!! There is always an upside my friends. HALF FULL, ALL THE WAY!
It must be!!!!

I'm Weird Because.........
I wear my pajamas 80% of the time
I'm always hot, I sleep with the windows open in the winter
I obsessively clip my cuticles
My husband and I sleep with separate blankets in the same bed
I would much rather work 12 hour shifts than 8.
I eat Nutella straight out of the jar A LOT!!!
I like elbow skin

I am a Bad Friend Because......
l need  a lot of personal space.
I am terrible about checking my messages or calling back. I usually just don't.
I can be flaky.
I will commit to something and then back out at the last minuet.
I can be guarded, not letting my friends in sometimes.

I am a good friend Because...........
I ALWAYS send thank you cards.
I am very loyal.
I will stick by your side as a friend for life.
If you really needed me, I would be there in a heart beat, even if you were in China.
I am very generous. I like to shower my friends with gifts and treat for lunch dates even if I can't really afford it.
I am very supportive. I am always encouraging and never competitive.
I really love my friends deeply and they become family to me.

I am sad Because...............

We can barely pay our bills. We live pay check to pay check and sometimes our account is overdrawn.
I have to start working overtime next month.
I really, really want to be a stay at home mother but can't afford to be.
I miss my children deeply when I am away from them.
I miss my brother. He died 4 years ago.
My father is very sick and unresponsive in the hospital right now.
We only have one car and it breaks down A LOT.
And to top if off my husband lost his job yesterday.

"those things that do not kill us will only make us stronger"
I am an honest believer in this!

I know my family will be okay.

I am happy Because...........

I have 2 amazingly beautiful, healthy children.
I have a wonderful husband who treats me like a queen.
I have a career that is dependable.
I have plenty of food for my children.
I have health insurance.
We own a home.
I have this blog which I adore.
I have many loyal, beautiful friends.
GOD IS GOOD TO ME, always.
I have discovered that cooking is my therapy.
I have lost 108 pounds.
I feel great about myself.
I am training for a marathon.
I have a closet full of beautiful clothes.
I am excited for.....................

I actually have the day off (with nursing you never know when your going to have to work)
To watch my little ones eyes light up on Christmas morning.
My husband and I's second date in 2 years which happens to be next week.
My days off.
Time with my babies.
A good night's sleep.
Things to come in the mail. I love getting packages!
