1 pound of ground beef (I use organic grass fed)
4 tablespoons of cooking oil of your choice(I use olive oil or bacon drippings)
1 package mushrooms sliced
1 yellow onion diced
3 carrots diced
1 celery stalk diced
1 8oz can of plain tomato sauce or 3 or 4 tomatoes puréed in the juicer orVitamix
1 teaspoon cumin
Salt and pepper
Sautée carrot, mushroom and onion in oil over medium heat for about 15 minutes or until soft. Now add your ground beef and your seasonings. Cook and stir until meat is almost all the way cooked. Now add the tomato sauce and let the flavors marry for about 10 minutes. Serve immediately.
Two ideas that I used this beef ragu for was beef lettuce wraps and beef ragu served over cauliflower mash!
